Episode 027 – Frantic Romantic

The Question:

I spent this last weekend at another friend’s engagement party. The others in our group are in long-term relationships or have put out the “single forever” banner, or they have a significant other and are dropping hints like leaves in a fall storm.  I, on the other hand, lived with someone for five years a while back and haven’t even stuck my toe into the dating pool since. It’s not that I want to be alone; it’s just that  I’m no good at flirting and just never feel like someone’s first choice.

My attached friends keep trying to fix me up. My parents think I’m just too picky. What is wrong with me? Why can’t I find my special someone? Is it some weird belief that I learned as a kid from my family? Is there something that is part of my nature that just repels men? Why can’t I find romance outside of a novel?
